A Thanksgiving Greeting

Second Chance Christian Church

“O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good” Psalm 107:1 KJV In the classic children’s book Oh the Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss, the main character finds himself traveling through a polychromatic landscape filled with strange sights and people. If we took away the rhymes and vibrant colors, in many ways this story is no different than any of our lives. We find ourselves standing at intersections wondering which path we should take and sometimes we choose to take none, and instead blaze our own path. Other times we ascend to great heights and get comfortable and other times we find ourselves camping in the wilderness. This is the journey of life. It’s exciting and overwhelming, it’s scary and wonderful. As you look back over the last 328 days there has to be something that you can celebrate. There has to be at least one moment that stands out that you can truly be thankful for. For me, there are many mountaintop experiences that I am grateful for; but today, it is my incredible Second Chance family that I give thanks to God for. Planting a church is hard work; it’s exhausting work to be honest. There are days that I truly question if this is where I am supposed to be and if this is what I should be investing my time in. And then, one of my leaders sends an email of encouragement or calls with good news about a new opportunity for us to do ministry in our neighborhood. Sounds like something so small, huh? Well, it is! But if it weren’t for my leadership team I don’t know where I would be. This Thanksgiving, it is my hope and prayer that no matter where you are that you can find something to be thankful for this season. Whether it’s a job that drives you crazy, a partner that works your last good nerve of the day, the children who won’t give you a moments rest or just a reasonable portion of your health and strength, the truth is, you’ve been blessed and should be thankful for what you have. From the entire Second Chance Christian Church family, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! With thanksgiving, Pastor Trayce S.
