Matt Slick defines prayer as "the practice of the presence of God; it is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God. It is both an exercise of faith and hope." Stated simply-prayer is talking with God as though God were your best friend. At Second Chance we believe that not only does prayer change things but it changes us in the process as well.
Since none of us can lock ourselves away to devote extended time to silent prayer like some of the traditional orders of monks and nuns we must find ways to pray indvidually and corporately. In 2016, Second Chance will identify a prayer focus on the first and fifteenth of each month that members are invited to pray about as it comes to mind. The prayer focus will be posted here on this page as well as on the Facebook page.
Additionally, we will host a prayer call at 8:00 PM on the 22nd of each month. To dial in to the call please call 712-770-4010, access code 794123. If you cannot join us for the call but have prayer concerns please use the contact us link on our Facebook Page.
Additional opportunities for prayer include our African-American HIV & AIDS Awareness Prayer Vigil which will be held on Sunday, February 7th at 7:00 PM. We will gather at Unity Church of Columbus located at 4211 Maize Rd, Columbus, OH 43224. We will have representatives from the Aids Resource Center of Ohio as well as other community organizations.
We will also have two ASH & DASH services for Ash Wednesday on February 10th. One location for Ash & Dash will be Karl Road Christian Church from 12-2 PM. More details and additional sites are soon to follow.
